Rajinikanth has been entertaining his fans for more than two decades now and even after so many movies, he manages to give a fresh look to his characters and stories. The actor has done some really wonderful movie that will go down as iconic movies in the history of cinema. To honour his grandness, Rajinikanth will now be honoured with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Union Minister, Prakash Javadekar took to Twitter to share the news with everyone and congratulated him for receiving the esteemed title. The Award is the country’s highest film honour.

 

“Happy to announce Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajinikanth ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic,” Mr Javadekar wrote while sharing the news. The jury for the award included singers Asha Bhosle and Shankar Mahadevan, actors Mohanlal and Biswajeet, and filmmaker Subhash Ghai.

PM Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to pass on good wishes to the megastar on the honour. “Popular across generations, a body of work few can boast of, diverse roles and an endearing personality…that’s Shri @rajinikanth Ji for you. It is a matter of immense joy that Thalaiva has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Congratulations to him,” he tweeted.

Expressing his gratitude, Rajinikanth issued a statement, thanking everyone who supported him. “I express my heartfelt thanks to the central government and prime minister Narendra Modi for awarding me with Indian cinema’s highest honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke award. I dedicate this award to my friend, bus driver Raj Bahadur, for recognising my acting ability and providing encouragement, my brother Thiru Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad for making many sacrifices to help me follow my dreams even when we lived in poverty, my mentor K Balachander for giving me my first break and making me Rajinikanth, all my film producers, directors, technicians distributors, theatre owners, the media, the Tamil people who have helped me thrive, and my fans all over the world.,” the actor said in a statement.

 

The Robot actor concluded by saying, “I’d like to thank the honourable Chief Minister Thiru Edappadi Palanisamy, honourable Deputy Chief Minister Thiru O Panneerselvam, honourable Leader of Opposition Thiru M K Stalin, my friend Kamal (Haasan) and various political leaders and friends from the center and state, friends from the film fraternity and my well-wishers too.” The actor’s next titled Annaatthe is set to release in cinemas on November 4, 2021, during the Deepavali holidays.
