They Raise Them Up: The Art Of Parenting From Bollywood Celebs

It’s said that if there is god in this world, it’s in the form of parents.

Even the most successful people will tell you that the happiest moment of their lives was when they held their child in their arms for the first time. It’s said that if there is god in this world, it’s in the form of parents. But the role comes with its share of responsibilities, as despite one’s best efforts, some children go haywire and lead lives that their parents had not envisioned for them.

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is probably one of the coolest parents one could ask for and shows that you don’t need to make a taboo out of things that you too did in school – for example giving gaalis. “He gets really excited telling me about gaalis he’s learnt. I’m from Delhi and I’ve also been that age and my vocabulary of Hindi gaalis is fantastic. So when he tells me one, I tell him that I’ll teach him another version of it,” SRK told DNA.

Sushmita Sen

“‘I started off being a pretty strict mom but I find myself easing off, because now I’m not trying to figure Renee out; she tells me. She had a very strict itinerary because it was the only way to get her to understand discipline. No one agreed with me, but hats off to my little one. She’s proved everybody wrong!,” she was quoted as saying by Good Housekeeping.

Madhuri Dixit-Nene

“If one of them is throwing a tantrum, I just let him be for a bit. Then I say, “Okay, you can sit here and cry all you want. Once you’re done, you can call me and we can talk sensibly about it.” This is for him to understand that there’s no point in a tantrum; he has to communicate,” she told Good Housekeeping.

Amitabh Bachchan

It’s important to not forget social and moral values, according to Amitabh. “My father, a known respected and public figure name, there was always those unwritten behavioural compulsions that were needed to be adhered to, to follow certain social norms, moral and cultural in keeping with the surname. Abhishek had to go through the same. And still does,” he wrote in his blog.
