Organised by The World Health Organisation (WHO) and Global Citizen, the One World: Together At Home concert, that took place on Saturday, saw celebrities from across the globe sharing messages of solidarity for the people who are suffering during the coronavirus pandemic.
From Shah Rukh Khan to Priyanka Chopra and Lady Gaga, artistes across the globe appeared on a live video stream or sent video messages paying tribute to teachers and healthcare, grocery, delivery, postal and other workers. SRK spoke about how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting the country and ended his message by saying: “Stay strong. I love you”. Lady Gaga performed a few of her songs and called the concert a “love letter” to those in the frontlines who are ensuring that we’re all safe.
“I have witnessed first hand overcrowded and unlivable conditions in refugee camps,” said UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra who also spoke about the need for proper sanitation, clean water and other basic necessities required to sustain life at refugee camps.
“I’m so grateful for the healthcare workers, the medical workers, all the grocery store workers and delivery people, the postal workers, all the other nonprofits that are working so hard. This is really a true love letter to all of you all over the world and I hope a reminder of the kindness that’s occurring right now,” said Gaga.
According to media reports, the event was also attended by Beyonce, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, David Beckham, Michelle Obama and Paul McCartney.
