The Wild Wild Country docuseries on Netflix may have been on Osho and his ashram but we can all agree that the star of the show was none other than Ma Anand Sheela.
Unabashed, irreverent and a certifiable baddie, Sheela didn’t seem to give a lot of fucks even when shit hit the fan. Also, it helped that she was always dressed impeccably even though her wardrobe only allowed pink and orange hues.
Now, on her latest appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, actress Priyanka Chopra (a baddie in her own right) has stated that she will be portraying Sheela in a project which will be directed by Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson.
“I am developing a feature with Barry Levinson. He is an iconic American director. We are developing it (from the perspective of) Sheela who is this guru who originated from India. She was his right-hand woman and she was devious. She created a whole cult in America. He was called Osho. I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. It was amazing. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce,” Priyanka says in the video, reports news agency IANS.
Honestly, if there’s anyone we could think of who could play the devious henchwoman, it’s Chopra. Our favourite desi girl will also be seen in Isn’t It Romantic? which stars Liam Hemsworth, Adam DeVine and Rebel Wilson.
