The Indian film industry has been doing its bit to help people during these tough times. Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam team, too, has stepped forward to help the country battle the Covid-19 pandemic. The donation includes fifty custom beds, stretchers, PPE suits, medical equipment stands and oxygen cylinders. Ravinder Reddy, Radhe Shyam’s production designer, told Deccan Chronicle, “These beds have been custom designed; they are big, strong and are patient-friendly. They have all the comforts that a bed-ridden patient can leverage.”
“When the CEO said that there were no beds available, and that they were having difficulty in procuring, I realised the acute shortage and the gravity of the issue. Soon, I asked my filmmakers if we could contribute our hospital set, which we built for the film, for the Covid-19 patients. They immediately agreed,” he further added. Reddy also added that the team of the film including Prabhas were very happy about this decision.
The team of Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam had wrapped up the shoot before the lockdown with only a few portions of it remaining to film. When the lockdown was imposed in the country, the hospital set was dismantled and the property was transported to a warehouse in Hyderabad. The hospital set which was constructed in a private studio was then donated to a hospital in Hyderabad when the shortage and requirement of medical equipment increased.
Talking about the film, Radhe Shyam is a romantic drama directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. The film which also stars Pooja Hegde in a key role, has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. Apart from this, Prabhas also has Adipurush and Salaar in his kitty. The actor will also be collaborating with Deepika Padukone in Nag Ashwin’s next.
