With the kind of films Prabhas has done in the recent past, he has established himself as one of the best actors in India. His film Radhe Shyam, directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, was released in theatres on March 11. In the film, he is playing a palmist Vikramaditya who falls in love with Prerna (Pooja Hegde) and fights against destiny to safeguard her.
After the humongous success of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, Prabhas accepts he now feels the pressure of delivering pan-India projects, and knows that expectations that are attached to his films. Baahubali minted Rs 511 crores at the box office, since then, the country’s gaze moved to the south in terms of entertainment.
In an exclusive interview, Prabhas opens up and tells us that after Baahubali, it has somehow become difficult to break away from that image. He tells us, “It’s taking time for people to accept me riding a bike in a leather jacket.”
He adds, “Baahubali has set a benchmark. It changed my life and career completely and I am really thankful for that. It’s a big responsibility now and I don’t want to disappoint my audience. Baahubali is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of a film. I now want people to experience something new and entertain the audience.”
“I am just trying to make films that would entertain and hopefully not disappoint the audience. Actors don’t always have to make Rs 500 crore and that’s alright,” he adds.
It has been five years since the films were released but Baahubali still defines who Prabhas is. “It gave me a lot of responsibility to keep performing again and again for my fans, keep doing commercial films. I know it is very easy if I do action films, but I want to experiment with different genres,” the actor says.
