Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman’s death has stunned the world. Now, thousands have signed a petition calling for a memorial of the actor to replace a Confederate monument in front of the Anderson County Court House.
“As fellow citizens go about their day they should have a face that sees all people as equal,” one petition reads. “That sees all citizens regardless of outward appearance as a member of the Anderson community.”
Boseman died at the age of 43 after a four-year-long battle with cancer. Tributes have been pouring in ever since.
The two petitions that went up over the weekend have garnered more than 18,000 signatures.
Meanwhile, fans have flooded Marvel’s virtual doors with petitions and requests to not recast the role of the Black Panther, following the Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death.
In a now-viral tweet, one fan urged Marvel studio to not recast the role on Twitter.
“Don’t recast that role @MarvelStudios. It’s done,” he tweeted.
