Jesus is coming back, just like they said in the Bible. They even said we’ll experience Armageddon, and 2020 feels like nothing less. But the Jesus we’re talking about is the one on screen.
Actor Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in 2004’s The Passion of the Christ has confirmed that a sequel is coming and writer/director Mel Gibson has already written the script for it.
While the first film showed Jesus Christ’s life 12 hours before the crucifixion, the sequel will focus on the resurrection of Christ. Caviezel told Breitbart that it’s going to be a large scale film, even calling it “the biggest film in world history.” We can believe that, since the first film collected $612 million USD worldwide off a $30 million USD budget, so the sequel definitely holds the potential to be bigger.
“Mel Gibson just sent me the third picture, the third draft. It’s coming,” said Caviezel. “It’s called ‘The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.’ It’s going to be the biggest film in world history.”
Caviezel has always been vocal about his passion to play a Biblical figure like Jesus Christ on screen. During an interview earlier this year with Fox News, Caviezel delved into how Hollywood’s habit of staying away from Biblical movies.
“The films they make are Marvel Comics movies,” he told . “You’ll see Superman. You won’t see Jesus… I got to play the greatest superhero there ever was.”
