Paris Hilton has always been vocal about her past. Her 2004 released sex tape changed her life, and it still affects Hilton a lot. Talking about the same, she opened up about the life-changing event in a recent chat with Vanity Fair and revealed that it gave her PTSD. She added that it also was ‘humiliating’ for her as the tape was released without her consent and the actress was counter-sued by her then boyfriend Rick Salomon for defamation.

Hilton said, “It’s always there in the back of my mind. When it happened, people were so mean about it to me. The way that I was spoken about on nightly talk shows and the media, to see things with my family was just heartbreaking. I would be in tears every single day, I didn’t want to leave my house, I felt like my life was over.”
The actress had never approved of the tape’s release, but Salomon released them anyway. The two got tied up in an ugly court battle and eventually settled out of court in 2005. She said that the sensational release will be “something that will hurt me for the rest of my life.”
She added, “It was a private experience between two people. You love someone, you trust someone and to have your trust betrayed like that and for the whole world to be watching and laughing … It was even more hurtful to me to have these people think that I did this on purpose — that killed me. It still gives me post-traumatic stress disorder to talk about it.”
Earlier, Paris Hilton has also opened up about how the media affected her mental health. She talked about the “cruel” interview with David Letterman, in which he was “purposefully trying to humiliate” the actress. She also confessed that she was “hurt” by Sarah Silverman’s 2007 MTV Movie Awards jokes. Silverman has said that Hilton should sentenced to jail.
