Oscars 2021 winners have been announced with Nomadland bagging the most number of awards. Chloe Zhao, who bagged the award for Best Director for Nomadland, created history as she became the second woman to win the Best Director trophy. Yuh-Jung Youn became the first Korean actress to take away the trophy for Best Supporting Actress for Minari. Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson became the first Black women to win the award for Makeup And Styling for Mai Rainey’s Black Bottom. We saw many other historic wins at the award show that made Oscars 2021 a predictable yet memorable event.
Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor for The Father over late actor Chadwick Boseman, who died last year of cancer. Anthony’s win came as a shocker for many, as Boseman had swept most awards season so far for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom earlier. Frances McDormand, star of Nomadland, bagged her third Best Actress Oscar. Oscars 2021 winners also included Another Round, from Denmark, which was awarded Best International Feature Film. Mank picked two Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design, while Pakistani-origin actor Riz Ahmed’s Sound Of Metal won two of its six nominations including Best Sound and Best Film Editing.
