Christopher Nolan’s highly confusing espionage epic Tenet had portions of it which were shot in Mumbai in India and the iconic filmmaker liked shooting here so much that he is looking for ways to come back to the country for his future projects.

Nolan told IANS that he was highly inspired after meeting filmmakers in India during his stay here while filming Tenet. Tenet, of course, also features the legendary Dimple Kapadia who is one of Bollywood’s most recognisable veterans.

“I never make plans so far ahead. But I had an amazing experience in India, and I definitely want to come back and work more in India with Indian actors. I don’t know what I’m doing next,” Nolan told IANS.

“I really had a tremendous experience. The love for films in that city is really palpable. That experience of meeting filmmakers of Mumbai and getting to see the sights and sounds of Mumbai was very inspiring for me. It immediately set my imagination to work on how I could come back there and do some shooting,” he added.

This is not the first time that Nolan is expressing his love for Indian cinema. The director had earlier mentioned that Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali is one of his favourite films besides being one of the best films ever made.

“I wanted to meet Indian filmmakers and learn more about India. I am looking forward to watching more Indian films in the future. I have had the pleasure of watching [Satyajit] Ray’s Pather Panchali recently, which I hadn’t seen before. I think it is one of the best films ever made. It is an extraordinary piece of work. I am interested in learning more about the Indian film industry and that is the reason why I came,” Nolan had earlier said during his visit to India in 2018.

Tenet released in theatres to mixed reviews but has done well at the box office considering the COVID-19 situation.
