Amidst an avalanche of trailers and announcements, DC also dropped a brand new trailer of the upcoming Black Adam movie. Announced all the way back in 2014, the standalone movie stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the lead and is set for a release on October 21, 2022.
Here’s what the official synopsis reads – ”Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
Channelling the power of Gods within him, the trailer shows Black Adam going up against the members of the Justice Society, including Hawkman played by Aldis Hodge. We also see a closer look at Dr Fate’s character played by Pierce Brosnan.
Black Adam was supposed to appear as the primary antagonist in the Shazam movie. However, considering Dwanye Johnson’s star power, the studio decided to greenlight a standalone movie. Considering Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set to release next year on December 21, 2023, we expect the two to crossover in upcoming projects.
Helming the movie is Jaume Collet-Serra, who’s previously worked with Johnson on Jungle Cruise. Starring alongside him will be Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna, Bodhi Sabongui as Amon and Viola Davis as Amanda Walle and Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael.
