After playing a series of extreme characters over the years, Neil Patrick Harris is back for a grounded, subdued romantic comedy series called ‘Uncoupled.’ Currently streaming on Netflix, the series follows Michael, who has his life turned upside down when his partner of 17 years walks out on him.
In a statement released by Netflix, the show is described as follows – “Michael Lawson (Neil Patrick Harris) seems to have it all figured out. He’s a successful New York City real estate agent with a great career, a supportive family, close friends, and a loving relationship with his partner of 17 years, Colin (Tuc Watkins). But when Colin unexpectedly moves out on the eve of his 50th birthday, Michael is completely blindsided. Overnight, he has to confront two nightmares: losing the man he thought was his soulmate, and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.”
Released last Friday, the series has been slowly winning the hearts of people over its realistic portrayal of a breakup. The 8-episode, 30-minute long series currently finds itself at an 84 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show is helmed by Jeffrey Richman and Darren Star, with the latter being the showrunner behind famous TV shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Younger, Sex And The City, and Emily In Paris.
Along with Neil Patrick Harris, the star cast also includes Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brook, Marcia Gay Harden and Tuc Watkins. That said, here’s what the internet has been saying about the show.
