The Badhaai Ho actress finally published the tell-all autobiography that she has been writing for 20 years. Talking about the same Kareena Kapoor Khan, Gupta spoke about how she felt all alone at times. “What I did, whatever God gave me or wherever I went wrong, I accepted it and moved forward. I wanted to have a normal husband, normal children with that husband who’s living with me…When I see other people, I do feel a little envious. I did not blame, I did not become alcoholic, because what I wanted I did not get,” said Gupta
“I have talked about that guy I was gonna get married and last minute, I had gone to get my clothes made in Delhi, he called up and he said, ‘I don’t want to marry you.’ Till today I don’t know why. But what can I do? I moved on. I would have loved to get married to him. I had a lot of respect for his father, mother. I was living in their house. He’s going to read, he’s alive, he’s happily married. He has children,” revealed the 62-year-old actress.
On the work front, Neena Gupta is now all set to star opposite megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, in Goodbye. This will be the first time that we will get to see Gupta and Bachchan share screen space, and the veteran actress is more than excited to be a part of the film.
The film which is directed by Vikas Bahl will have Gupta essay the role of Bachchan’s wife. Goodbye, touted as a slice-of-life film, is centred around a funeral. The film also stars South star Rashmika Mandanna in a key role. Talking about her role, Gupta said in a statement, “When Vikas narrated the film to me, I was so happy. It is a wonderful script and one doesn’t think about anything else, when the script is this exciting.
Even the role is beautifully written and I am very excited to be sharing the screen space with Mr Bachchan. It is a dream come true for me and I am quite ecstatic about it.” While Big B and Neena Gupta have not worked before, the megastar has previously expressed his fondness for Gupta’s craft in 2018. He had sent her a hand-written note to praise her performance in Badhaai Ho.
