Bollywood celebrities usually know how to give measured answers about things, especially when it’s controversial topics. However, every once in a while, it so happens that let things slip and say something contentious. Some comments can be attributed to human error, while sometimes it’s done on purpose, especially on reality shows.

Munawar Faruqui
Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui was in news owing to his arrest last year. He was arrested in a case for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and spent a month in jail. Recently, in Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp, Munawar Faruqui revealed that he was married and has a son. In the latest episode, Kangana mentioned the buzz surrounding him on social media and asked him to answer truthfully, to which Munawar agreed. She showed a blurred image on the screen, which left everyone rather baffled. He refused to talk about the photo. Kangana proceeded to give her own life experiences with married men as an example and how it became a ‘scandal,’ hinting at the infamous battle with Hrithik Roshan. She said that it was Munawar’s choice if he wished to address it or not, but his silence would further fuel his negative image on social media.
Mandana Karimi
Lock Upp has been making all sorts of noise ever since it started streaming. From controversial statements to the highest views on an OTT platform, the Ekta Kapoor series has grabbed headlines, and how. On Sunday, Mandana spoke about her secret relationship with an ace director. She didn’t reveal the name of the filmmaker but spoke about what unfolded while she was in a relationship with him. Mandana revealed that the secret relationship happened after her separation from her ex-husband Gaurav Gupta. “The time that I was struggling with my whole situation…my separation, I did have a secret relationship. My relationship was with a very well-known director who talks about women’s rights. He’s an idol to many people. We planned a pregnancy…and when it happened, he…” the actor revealed as she broke down.
Tehseen Poonawalla
Tehseen Poonawalla revealed that he was once asked by an Indian industrialist to sleep with his wife. He said, “Bharat ke ek top industrialist ne mujhe ek offer di thi ki main unke patni k saath sou (A top industrialist in India gave me an offer that I sleep with his wife).”
Kareena Kapoor
Karan Johar who is very close to Kareena Kapoor asked her ‘the one question she would like to ask Priyanka Chopra’ on Koffee With Karan. Kareena was quick enough to reply: “Why does she have that accent?” And Priyanka Chopra, who was later seen on his chat show, decided to give it back with an epic reply, “The same place her boyfriend (then boyfriend Saif Ali Khan) got it from.”
Tusshar Kapoor
Koffee With Karan’s rapid-fire round was favourite for most of the audience. Many a time, celebrity guests have ended up giving unexpected and controversial answers. During one such segment, Tusshar Kapoor was asked which actress comes to his mind when he hears ‘botox’. His answer was ‘Preity Zinta.’ It took the host Karan by surprise as well but the damage was done and Preity was really upset with Tusshar. The actor later apologized to the actress for his remarks.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan made his debut on Koffee With Karan season 3 and his remark that he is still a virgin made news for a long time.
Sunidhi Chauhan
For the fifth and sixth seasons of the popular music reality show Indian Idol, singer Sunidhi Chauhan served as a judge. While explaining why she decided to quit the show, Sunidhi said, “I left Indian Idol as a judge because I couldn’t do what the makers demanded. I was asked to praise contestants on the show regardless of my choice.”
