With the recent FICCI-EY report projecting OTT subscriptions to grow from 40 million in 2021 to 60 million by 2024, recently released films are fast making their way to streaming platforms. From Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer 83 to Telugu action movie Bheemla Nayak and international titles like Encanto and Marvel’s Eternals, the past few months were packed with movies you wouldn’t want to miss. We have curated the perfect list of flicks you can watch now, at home, if you missed catching it on the big screen, making your weekends more binge-worthy. 

 

83 

83 starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone takes you back to the excitement and euphoria when India won the cricket World Cup for the first time under legendary Kapil Dev. Directed by Kabir Khan, the sports drama also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, and Chirag Patil in quintessential roles. 

 

Bheemla Nayak 

Bheemla Nayak, starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles is high on drama and action. A remake of the Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, the film seems like a Pawan Kalyan show all the way. The Telugu version, directed by Saagar K Chandra, also stars Rana Daggubati, Nitya Menen, and Samyuktha Menon in pivotal roles. 

 

Encanto

Encanto marked the 60th animated feature produced by Disney. The film available on Disney+ Hotstar, tells the story of Mirabel, the only ordinary member of the madrigal family. As she discovers that the magic surrounding their house is in danger, she becomes her family’s last hope.

 

Raya and the Last Dragon 

With magnificent animation sequences, Raya and the Last Dragon is about Raya, a fallen princess, who must track down the legendary last dragon to stop the evil forces that have returned and threatened her world.  The movie, well-received for its story of female empowerment is voiced by Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Izaac Wang, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong, and Sandra Oh, the film is directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada.   

 

Tadap 

A memorable love story, packed with action and drama, Tadap is a visual stunner with a deepening storyline of two lovers and their fate. Directed by Milan Luthria, the film stars debutant Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria. 

 

Seetimaarr 

If you are a fan of sports, action, and drama, then this Telugu film, starring Gopichand, Tamannaah, Digangana Suryavanshi, and Bhumika Chawla is unmissable. Written and directed by Sampath Nandi, the film revolves around two Kabbadi teams who play Women’s Nationals.

 

Eternals 

With a diverse and powerful group of thinkers and fighters sharing the same cosmic energy, the Eternals hold many firsts for Marvel. From having the first openly homosexual relationship to a hearing-impaired superhero, Eternals is a must-watch for all Marvel fans. Directed by Chloé Zhao, Marvel’s Eternals an immortal alien race, emerge from hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from their ancient counterparts, the Deviants. The film features the voices of Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, and more. 

 

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 

Marvel’s superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is layered with beautiful action choreography dances, spiritually captivating music, exquisite visuals that transport you to the serene landscapes of a mythical land. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Simu Liu stars alongside Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung.

 

Panga

Panga, starring Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha, and Neena Gupta, is a film inspired by the true story of a female world champion Kabaddi player Jaya Nigam. Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, the film is an inspirational watch and an ode to motherhood and chasing dreams. 

 

Chapaak

Deepika Padukone starrer Chapaak takes one through the ordeal of Malti, an acid attack victim. From being a girl next door to one unfortunate acid attack survivor, the film comprising all elements also features Vikrant Massey in a quintessential role.
