Markle recently appeared on Australia’s 60 Minutes show and did not mince his words when talking about Oprah. “I have things to say. Oprah Winfrey, for one, I think is playing Harry and Meghan. I think she is using them to build her network and build her new shows and I think she’s taken advantage of a very weakened man and has got him to say things that you just shouldn’t be saying on television,” said Thomas Markle.

Accusing her further, he added, “She will disagree of course, and she may even sue me. I don’t care. But, the bottom line is she is working with Harry.” Markle said that Oprah took advantage of a “weakened” Prince Harry for her personal gain.

Talking further about his daughter, Meghan Markle’s father revealed that he came to know about the birth of her granddaughter, Lilibet, from Harry and Meghan’s public statement. He added that he was disappointed that the couple did not even bother to tell him themselves.

Contrary to many supporters of Markle, her estranged father, Thomas Markle, had backed the British royal family after the couple’s interview, and said that they weren’t racist at all. He suggested that his daughter exaggerated racism in the family.

Thomas Markle had told ITV that the royal couple went “way over the top” and probably overstated a “dumb question” that a royal family member could have asked about her future baby’s skin colour. The Emmy-winning former lighting director was interviewed by one of Meghan’s most fervent critics, Piers Morgan. “They (Harry and Meghan) went way over the top with these stories with Oprah, and should have waited, considering the Queen’s age and Philip’s age,” he had stated.
