Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey has become the talk of the town. The Duchess of Sussex made some shocking revelations about the Royal Family, and many celebrities came in support of the actress for speaking her truth. Contrary to many supporters of Markle, her estranged father, Thomas Markle, backed the British royal family, and said that they weren’t racist at all. He suggested that his daughter exaggerated racism in the family.
Thomas Markle told ITV that the royal couple went “way over the top” and probably overstated a “dumb question” that a royal family member could have asked about her future baby’s skin colour. The Emmy-winning former lighting director was interviewed by one of Meghan’s most fervent critics, Piers Morgan. “They (Harry and Meghan) went way over the top with these stories with Oprah, and should have waited, considering the Queen’s age and Philip’s age,” said Thomas.

He continued, “I have great respect for the royals, and I don’t think the British royal family is racist at all. I don’t think the British are racist, I think Los Angeles is racist, California is racist, but I don’t think the Brits are. The thing about what colour would the baby be, how dark would the baby be, I’m guessing and hoping it’s just a dumb question from somebody. It could just be that simple, it could be somebody who asked a stupid question, rather than being a total racist.”
