Madhu Mantena’s live-action trilogy Ramayana, currently being called Ramayana 3D, is based on the Hindu epic we all know. It is said to be the most ambitious project we have seen of late.
Those helming the mega-budget project apparently want to leave no stone unturned when it comes to the cast.
As per reports, directors Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar along with screenplay writer Sridhar Raghavan are hard at work to prepare themselves with extensive research for this film.
From the time of its inception, the movies have been linked to some big names of B-Town. As per reports, leading Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor are in talks to lead the project as Raavan and Raam respectively.
A while ago reports suggested that Mahesh Babu might be portraying the mythical lead.
A source close to the development of this 3D epic Ramayana trilogy told the portal, “Nitesh Tiwari is looking for the best-in-class actor who can completely devote himself to the character of Ram, and he believes Ranbir Kapoor perfectly fits the bill as he has that charming presence Nitesh is specifically seeking for in an actor. Ranbir is thrilled about this offer and will take a call after the full narration. He hasn’t given his nod yet, however, it’s very likely that he would okay the project.”
Currently, Deepika Padukone is expected to be playing Seeta. However, the names of both Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon were associated with the project, but it turned out to be about another retelling of the epic, one a little closer to the female perspective and voice.
Madhu Mantena is one of the producers. The likes of Allu Arvind and Namit Malhotra may also be backing the highly budgeted project.
The film is said to be backed by a budget of a whopping 500 crores. It is currently expected to be a three-part series and to be shot entirely in 3D.
Word is that the creators would be taking the route of James Cameron’s Avatar, going all out, and may even be importing a team that had worked on that esteemed project. The team would be focusing on costume, primarily for Raavan speculated to be played by Roshan.
There is no official word from the team yet. The pre-production has apparently already commenced.
