Where Kangana Ranaut goes, controversies follow. And something of such sorts is also happening in her OTT debut reality show, Lock Upp. While there was buzz that Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the show, cancelled the show just a day before it was set to be released, the Lock Upp premiere was a crazy affair. With Ranaut being her sassy self, we also got to see who all are entering the house for the show.
Ranaut made a steaming entry on the stage of Lock Upp as she performed on her song “Wakhra Swag.” She then moved on to introducing the contestants. After much speculations and a few confirmed artists, the final list of contestants is finally out. Apart from the names that were already announced including Poonam Pandey, Munawar Faruqui, the show has many controversial names taking part.
Joining Ranaut first was controversial comedian, Faruqui. Stand-up comedian Sunil Pal also is a part of the show. Swami Chakrapani, the self-claimed godman who claimed that ‘gau mutra’ is the solution to all problems in life, is also a participant. Next in line is Saisha Shinde, the transgender fashion designer. Wrestler Babita Phogat will also be seen inside the jail. Poonam Pandey has said that she is taking part in the show only to change her image.
Sara Khan, who has been a part of many reality shows, is also a strong contender. Nisha Rawal, who was in the news for her messy divorce, comes with her set of controversies. Shivam Sharma, Siddharth Sharma, Kaaranvir Bohra, Anjali Arora, Payal Rohatgi and Tehseen Poonawala are also pitting against others to win the show.
Until a few days ago, the fate of the show looked uncertain as a Hyderabad businessman filed a petition stating that the idea was his and the makers had stolen it. The Telangana High Court, however, set aside the ad-interim injunction granted by the trial court. The show went on air on Sunday and will stream 24X7 on ALTBalaji and MX Player.
