We’ve all grown to adore Coldplay and their music and have always eagerly awaited a new release from them. Well, they’re back again, but this time under a new name and with a whole new sound.
Parlophone records on Wednesday, took to Twitter to announce that they have a new signee. They posted a blurry picture of four men with the title “Los Unidades” on the top and people naturally got curious of their identity. The picture was tagged ”Y02LPAC81ODL”, which fans soon realised was an anagram for Coldplay 2018.
ColdplayXtra, a Coldplay fan-page, soon discovered that the legal trademark of Los Unidades had listed the names of all four Coldplay members Chris Martin, Will Champion, Guy Berryman and Jon Buckland.
The band then released their first song titled “E-Lo” featuring Pharrell and Jozzy. You didn’t have to be a Coldplay fan to distinctively make out, that Chris Martin was clearly on the vocals of the song. Along with adopting a new name, they have also played around with some new sounds. It is a heavily pop inspired song with easy simple grooves throughout it. Pharrell provides a hand in producing the song.
“E-Lo” is part of a four-track EP that features various artists like David Guetta, Stormzy, Wizkid, and more. All the profits from the EP will be going towards the efforts of Chris Martin’s Global Citizen.
