Let’s just say 2021 is not bad after all. Lisa Kudrow has revealed more details about the upcoming FRIENDS reunion during an interview on Rob Lowe.

During Lowe’s Literally! podcast, Kudrow revealed is already in works and moving forward. She said: “I pre-shot something for it already, so we’re definitely doing it.” She further added that that the shooting will likely begin in “early, early spring” after production was delayed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It has been reported that the reunion will not feature any new scripted material, but will instead see the original cast reminiscing on old times.

It’s us getting together, which doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when we stopped,” Kudrow said. The reunion will air on HBO Max, with the release date TBD.

In February 2020, it was revealed that an unscripted reunion starring all six of the original cast of FRIENDS and that it would air on HBO Max. The lead cast confirmed the news on their Instagram handle by sharing a picture of the six ‘Friends’ and captioned it as ‘It’s Happening.’

The cast was set to return to the original FRIENDS soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. Kevin Reilly, HBO Max’s chief content officer, said in a statement: “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library.”

But thanks to coronavirus, the reunion faced delays due to the ongoing lockdowns. But it was also reported that the six lead actors secretly recorded the 90-minute special, thanks to Courteney Cox and director Ben Winston who filmed a “mock rehearsal” over Zoom.

We truly cannot wait to watch our six favourites back on the screen after 17 years!
