Popular opinion: Squid Game was one of the best Korean shows you have come across so far. Unpopular opinion: Nah, the Netflix series directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, is not that great. While many hold the opinion that the show is a masterpiece, proved by the popularity of the show worldwide, a section of people think that the show was not so great, especially the ending. NBA’s brightest star, LeBron James, too, holds the same opinion about the show.

James expressed his disappointment with how Squid Game wrapped up in the final episode. He was discussing the show with his Lakers teammate, Anthony Davis. Offering his two cents on Squid Game’s controversial conclusion, the NBA star said, “Yeah, I did finish it. I didn’t like the ending, though. I know it’s supposed to start off season two, but get on that f***ing flight and see your daughter, bro. Like what are you doing?”
What started as a very casual opinion, ended up upsetting Squid Game’s director, Dong-hyuk. He went on to respond to James’ review, taking a tongue-in-cheek jibe at the basketball legend and jokingly took a swipe at his recent efforts in the filmmaking industry.
Referring to Space Jam: A New Legacy, the animated movie that just released earlier this year, Dong-hyuk said, “Have you seen Space Jam 2? LeBron James is cool and can say what he wants. I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending. If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel.
“I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending’,” the director added. The four-time NBA champion could not help but reply to Dong-hyuk’s dig. He took to social media to respond to the director’s chirpy retort saying, “This can’t be real right??!! I hope not.”
