2019 has been incredibly good for Lady Gaga. Right from winning an Oscar to teasing her forthcoming album, the singer hasn’t stopped. After her incredible performance in A Star Is Born, Gaga is returning back on the big screen. The singer has been cast into Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie about the assassination of Maurizio Gucci who was murdered by his ex-wife.

The singer-songwriter will be playing the role of Gucci’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. Maurizio Gucci left Reggiani after 12 years of marriage in 1985 for a younger woman. The Italian socialite was convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in Italy in 1995. She got the nickname Black Widow during the trial and served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016, as reported by Deadline.

The script is based on the book The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. This film would follow Gaga’s first movie A Star Is Born. She won an Oscar for writing the song Shallow for the film as well as earned the nomination for Best Actress.

Recently, Scott directed the crime thriller All the Money in the World starring Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams, and Mark Wahlberg that was based on the 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson. The Gucci saga will be produced by him along with Giannina Scott and his Scott Free Productions.

According to Hollywood Reports, “The film has been a long-gestating project for Scott, with details of it first emerging more than a decade ago, with Angelina Jolie in talks to play the role of Reggiani.”
