Kriti Sanon has made a name for herself in an industry that is known to be borderline vicious to newcomers and outsiders.

In an interview with Brut India, Sanon recalls one such incident from her first-ever ramp show where the ways of the industry were not very kind on her; “When I did my first ramp show, I remember I messed up somewhere in the choreography and the choreographer was very rude to me. She screamed at me in front of some 20 models at the end of the show. Whenever someone scolds me, I can just start crying like this (snaps fingers).”

She continued; “So, I remember sitting in an auto [rickshaw] and the moment I sat in the auto, I started crying. I went back home and I cried to my mother. My mother was like, ‘I don’t know if this profession is for you. I don’t. You need to be emotionally way stronger; you need to be a thick-skinned person and you need to be a lot more confident than you are.’ And I think confidence is something that I gained with time.”

Sanon went on to receive an offer to audition for a south Indian film with Mahesh Babu around mid-2012. She ended up getting the part. She signed Heropanti as she was shooting for 1: Nenokkadine and jokes about the high of having issues with scheduling dates as a newcomer.

In that very interview, Sanon discloses how her mother was never sure if she really fit in the world of modelling.

She was last seen in Mimi. She has been lauded for the exemplary performance and she talks about how she is glad she took up the role of a mother so early on in her career as the scenes allowed for intensity. The movie has made her more confident as an actor.

Kriti Sanon is next expected in Hum Do Hamare Do, Bachchan Pandey, Bhediya, and Adipurush.
