After the Avatar: The Last Airbender debacle, director M. Night Shyamalan seems to be making his way into the limelight again. Case in point, the trailer of his latest project called Knock at the Cabin, starring Dave Bautista was just dropped recently.
Based on Paul Tremblay’s hit novel The Cabin at the End of the World, the Shyamalan movie follows the same formulaic approach of a family spending some time away in a remote cabin, while shit goes down. However, considering the director’s penchant for last-minute twists (some land, some don’t), expect something crazy going down in the climax.
This is not the first time we’re seeing a genre-bending cabin in the woods-themed movie, with the most standout example being aptly titled 2011 movie The Cabin in the Woods, featuring a fresh-faced Chris Hemsworth. Coming back to the topic though, here’s what the official synopsis of Knock at the Cabin reads like – “While vacationing, a girl and her parents are taken hostage by armed strangers who demand that the family choose to avert the apocalypse.”
Along with Dave Bautista, the movie also stars Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Kristen Cui, Rupert Grint, Abby Quinn and Nikki Amuka-Bird. Scheduled for February 3, 2023, here’s how the internet reacted to the trailer.
