Kanye West is known for his exceptionally personal music but he is also known to be quite the entrepreneur. Now after the premiere of his 10th studio album, Donda, comes the news of a whirlwind of ventures, his line with Gap, a possible homeware store, a line of tech and he may also be in the works of becoming an educationalist.
As per multiple reports, Ye may open a prep school in his mother’s name, too.
A website that appears to be the official source of information for this academy claims that the mission of the institution would be “using an ethic of integrity and care, Donda Academy prepares students to become the next generation of leaders, thinkers and innovators by providing them with world-class education that includes rigorous core curriculum, and an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving.”
It is also being reported that a famous sportswear brand, speculated to be Adidas, will back the Donda Academy. Junior Jalen Hooks is expected to join as a member. Hooks, is said to have offers from a variety of colleges like Michigan State and Purdue, among others.
On joining the institution, Hooks reportedly told a newspaper, “It’s just one of those things you can’t pass up. It was more of a family decision, too. All of us just felt like it was a chance to reach my full potential and grow and get ready for the college level.”
Other athletes including Robert Dillingham, Jahki Howard, and Zion Cruz are also reported to be linked to the school.
West’s Donda Academy seems to currently be taking applications, as per the website. However, there is no mention of the tuition or opening date as of yet.
West may set the foundation for the institution at the site where a former private school once stood, between Simi Valley and Moorpark, as per media reports.
