As if the “White Lives Matter” t-shirt wasn’t enough to stir a controversy, Kanye West has invited more trouble for himself. The artist shared a slew of antisemitic remarks online which triggered widespread outrage among people. This has also led Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez to back out from helping Ye.
Vasquez, who played a big role in securing Depp’s win in the Amber Heard defamation case, represents the law firm, Brown Rudnick. She was hired by Ye to represent his business interests amid all the drama. Recently, brands like Balenciaga and GAP ended ties with the artist over his comments. Adidas is also reviewing its relationship with Ye after he wore the “White Lives Matter” T-shirt at a fashion show in Paris.
Reports suggested that Vasquez declined to work with the rapper as he continues to make antisemitic remarks. The firm explicitly warned West that Vasquez won’t represent him if he did not retract his statements. Something Ye did not want to do. He doubled down on his antisemitic comments and spoke outside his daughter’s basketball game, saying, “I want to talk about the Jewish comment, it’s proven the exact point that I made.”
Kanye West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian also spoke against him via an Instagram story. She shared her statement that read, “Hate speech is never OK or excusable. I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.”
Not just this, a finished documentary about Kanye West has also been scrapped amid backlash. Kris Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner also posted their messages in support of Jewish people, indirectly dissing West.
