It appears that the ongoing feud between Kanye West and Drake has been reignited and is escalating quickly as both rappers gear up to release their new albums. This conflict of words started over again on Friday when rapper Trippie Redd delivered his collection “Trip At Knight,” which includes a collab with Drake named “Betrayal”. On the track, the October’s Very Own founder seems to take shots at both West and West’s frequent collaborator, Pusha T, rapping, “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (burned out), let it go / Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone.” In 2018, Pusha T and Drake notoriously clashed after the Degrassi star delivered the diss track “Duppy Freestyle.” The Clipse rapper stated “The Story of Adidon” accordingly, in which Pusha blames Drake for being a “deadbeat” father who is “concealing a kid,” as up until that point he had not openly recognized the presence of his child, Adonis.

Hours after “Betrayal” dropped, Kanye posted what looked like a cryptic group iMessage screenshot to Instagram. “I live for this,” said the sender. I’ve been fucked with by nerd ass jock niggas like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.” The subtle threat was preceded by a still of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and sent to a group of eight, one user identified with a large “D.” A “Pusha” was also added to the conversation, leading to speculation that Drake and Pusha T were among the recipients. Though the iMessage grab has also been deleted from Kanye’s Instagram page, images of it have circulated widely online.

Early this morning, Kanye West shared a screenshot of a map to Drake’s Toronto home on his feed. While he didn’t distinguish the area as Drake’s home unequivocally, the location in Toronto’s Bridle Path area has been recently revealed as Drake’s by outlets like the Toronto Sun and iHeartRadio Canada. Furthermore, the OVO supervisor’s owl logo could be found in a landmarking photograph on the map that Kanye transferred. Kanye immediately erased the post, yet not prior to gathering more than 2,700 remarks and 1,300 preferences. Drake posted an Instagram story of himself laughing in a moving convertible after the experience.

The war of words between the two dates all the way back to 2009 when West critiqued one of Drake’s lyrics on the Young Money song “Every Girl.” In response, days later Drake said in an interview, “Before I met him, I had the utmost respect for Kanye West. I’d even go as far as to say he’s the most influential person as far as a musician that I’d ever had in my life.” Since then, the two have continued to exchange barbs via their music.

Fans are still waiting on Kanye West to release his upcoming album, Donda after previewing it twice in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He’s slated to host another event in Chicago this Thursday. Drake’s next announced album, Certified Lover Boy, has yet to be released after he initially planned for a January 2021 drop date. While sharing that he instead would take time to recover after surgery, Drake noted that the album would come sometime this year.
