A-list celebrities from Canada came together on Sunday for a 90-minute benefit show to help raise funds for the victims of COVID-19. The special, named Stronger Together – Tous Ensemble was aiming to raise CA$ 150 million for Food Banks Canada which has come under immense pressure to feed people during the novel coronavirus crisis, reports The Hindustan Times.

 

Justin Bieber, Michael Buble, Drake, Ryan Reynolds, Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies and Bryan Adams were amongst those who performed or participated at the fundraiser.

 

According to media reports, even Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an appearance towards the closing of the 90-minute show. “It’s just incredible to see people who have to leave their families every day and go to work amidst this crisis, as dangerous as this is, just really the glue holding us all together. So thank you, thank you very much for that,” Drake said as he closed the show.

 

Lavigne, Buble, Bieber and other artists came together to sing the hit classic, Lean On Me and many artists joined in via video due to the lockdowns and social distancing norms in the country. HT reports that the show began with rockeer Sam Roberts performing an acoustic version of his song, We’re All In This Together.
