If you watch Game of Thrones (GOT), you’re pretty familiar with all the incest going on in it. Yes, till a point, we can all take some of it, but when news recently came out that Jon Snow and Arya Stark were originally planned to be lovers, everyone lost their minds.

Seeing Arya Stark get naked and have sex with Gendry was disturbing enough, but to watch Jon and Arya be in that same scenario would be traumatising. But that’s the story arc George RR Martin had envisioned for these two characters. 

The original draft that Martin had submitted in 1993 ended up going viral on Twitter.

A complicated love triangle was in place between Jon Snow, Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister. Basically, Arya ends up falling in love with Jon. The draft reads that Arya “realizes, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night’s Watch, sworn to celibacy. Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy, until the secret of Jon’s true parentage is finally revealed in the last book.”

And apparently, Tyrion was supposed to fall head over heels in love with Arya. But of course, it would be unrequited as Arya is busy falling deeper in love with Jon. This was going to lead up to an intense and heated rivalry between Jon and Tyrion.

As uncomfortable as this was, it’s still not the most disturbing thing we’ve seen in GOT.
