Todd Philips Shares First Look Teaser Of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker In Joker: Folie à Deux
Joaquin Phoenix’ First Look From ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Drops Online

Fans can’t wait to catch a glimpse of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn now

While DC is going through its share of turmoil, director Todd Phillips has shared a teaser image of the upcoming Joker sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, from the first day of filming. And yes, it is as moody as it can get.

Phillips, who also directed the first movie, which went on to rake in billions of dollars at the box office and got Phoenix his Oscar win, shared the image with the caption – “Day 1. Our boy. #joker”. As expected, the internet has ventured into the rabbit hole, trying to find the meaning behind the teaser and how it could be connected to the overarching plot.

However, from our guess, Arthur Fleck seems to be an Arkham Asylum convict at this point where he could be possibly meeting his new therapist, Dr Harleen Quinzel. We already know that Lady Gaga is set for the iconic role. Now, details have emerged that Brendan Gleeson has also been cast in the sequel. Gleeson was recently seen in potential Oscar-nominee The Banshees of Inisherin’ alongside Colin Farrell.

Coming to the future of DC, a recent report suggested that the new bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking to cancel the already-announced Wonder Woman 3. The pair are reportedly also considering cancelling the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, starring Henry Cavill and ending the Aquaman series, to recast Jason Mamoa as Lobo.

Meanwhile, the pair has decided to stay away from Matt Reeve’s The Batman and Todd Philip’s take on Joker. Both of these have been DC’s highest commercial and critical success in recent years. While there’s no word on when Reeve’s Batman will return to screens, Phillip’s Joker sequel is set to release in theatres on October 9, 2024. Exactly five years following the release of the first movie.
