After shocking testimonies by witnesses, Johnny Depp presented his testimony in the defamation case taking place in Virginia. He has filed $50m defamation case against ex-wife, Amber Heard, who in an opinion post published in Washington Post, called herself a victim of domestic violence. Depp denied these allegations and slapped a case on Heard in 2019.
The closely watched civil trial is now in its second week and Depp finally gave his testimony in the case. He told the court, “I never struck Ms Heard in that way, nor have I struck any woman in my life. Her accusations sort of permeated the industry. It’s been six years of trying times; so strange when one day you’re Cinderella, so to speak, and then in 0.6 seconds, you’re Quasimodo. I didn’t deserve that and nor did my children.”
The actor’s lawyer went on to ask him to describe his childhood and asked him to talk about the abuse that he suffered from his mother. “I could see when she was about to head into a situation where she was going to get riled up and someone was going to get it. And generally it was me,” he revealed.
The trial is supposed to last at least six weeks. Ahead of this, Heard posted on her social media that she would be taking a break. “Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse,” Heard began her statement about her case against her ex-husband, as well as his own case against Heard. “I never named him, rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking against men in power. I continue to pay that price, but hopefully, when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny,” she wrote.
Amidst this drama, new reports also surfaced online about the actress having a threesome with Cara Delevingne and Elon Musk in 2016 at Johnny Depp’s attic in Los Angeles. Musk denied the rumours. He said, “Cara and I are friends, but we’ve never done intimate things, she’ll confirm. I want to confirm again that Amber and I only started dating about a month after filing for divorce. I was never close to her during her marriage.”
