On July 6, the Twitter account of Johnny Depp’s NFT (non-fungible token) account Never Fear Truth community tweeted that they had conducted a sale worth $800,000. The account also disclosed that the proceedings from the sale will be donated to four organisations namely Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, The Footprint Coalition and The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Now, the interesting part is that this Los Angeles hospital is associated with Amber Heard as well.
But as the news hit the screens of people, praises for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor couldn’t stop. Praising him aside, people didn’t miss the chance to take a dig at his ex-wife. People wrote that there is a difference between pledging something and actually doing it and Depp did it. Check out a few more comments:
In 2016, the Aquaman actress had pledged to donate her divorce settlement money which was approximately $7 million to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union. But during the trial, it was revealed that she had failed to do so. Even though last month Heard said that she would still do it. In an interview, she said that she had made a pledge and that pledge is made over time by its nature. During the trial, she had said that she was unable to fulfil her promise because most of her resources went into bearing the legal costs which she had to pay after her ex-husband sued her.
In an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018, Heard had described how she was a victim of domestic abuse. After which Depp sued her for defamation, followed by Heard countersuing Depp for $100 million. Eventually, the jury delivered its verdict in favour of Depp.
Depp seems to have moved on in his life after the defamation case came to rest. He has been spotted celebrating with his friends and has opened a TikTok account to connect with his fans. After the six-week-long trial, this was much needed for the actor.
