John Wick’s ‘The Continental’ To Air On Peacock In 2023

The wait has gotten all the more exciting!

The much-awaited series, The Continental of John Wick movies, will now stream on the NBC subscription service, Peacock in 2023. Peacock has aired all three of the “John Wick” films to date. This three-episode prequel show takes the audience on a time travel experience of sorts.

Kelly Campbell, president of Peacock, in a statement said, “The John Wick films have become a global phenomenon, are among the most watched titles on Peacock and we are thrilled and honored to partner with Lionsgate to extend this incredible franchise. We understand the value of a global franchise, and [executive vp, head of content acquisitions] Val Boreland and the team knew that by bringing this special event series to Peacock and putting the full power of NBCUniversal behind it, the premiere of The Continental will be the streaming event of the year.”

And well, it appears that the team is as excited as the fans!

To this, the group chair of Lionsgate television Kevin Beggs added, “John Wick has become part of the cultural zeitgeist with a massive, passionately engaged fan base around the world. We’re delighted to partner with Peacock to continue expanding the John Wick universe. This agreement reflects the collaboration of our Motion Picture Group, which has grown the franchise from the beginning and was excited by the opportunity to bring it to the next level, Jim Packer and his Worldwide Television Distribution team, which found the perfect home for The Continental and the Lionsgate Television creative group, which created a brilliant and enduring property that is one of the most highly anticipated streaming events of 2023.”

The series, which is written by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward, is set against the backdrop of a continental hotel. This venue happens to be a common haunt for the members of the underworld to meet up. The hotel is taken care of and managed by Winston Scott, whose role will be played by Ian McShane. The series will take the audience to a time when Scott was young. Little Scott dreams of seizing control of the hotel, and in order to do so, he needs to have a strong underworld connection.

While Keanu Reeves plays the role of the main assassin in the other offerings, here the focus is on the hotel and Scott. The series will start streaming around when John Wick 4 will hit the theatres i.e. on March 24, 2023.
