Lyricist Javed Akhtar has filed a defamation case against actor Kangana Ranaut for allegedly making “baseless allegations” against him in relation to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

 

This is not the first time that Ranaut finds herself in the midst of controversy and neither is this the first legal case that has been filed against her.

 

Kangana Ranaut took it upon herself to respond to Javed Akhtar by quote-tweeting a tweet shared by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut addressing the same.

 

“Ek thi sherni… aur bhediyon ka jhund (there once was a lioness… and a pack of wolves),” Ranaut wrote.

 

“Lyricist Javed Akhtar files criminal complaint against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for making defamatory statements on national and international television. The complaint has been filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai,” Raut had written in his tweet.

 

Even as a CBI, ED, and NCB investigation is being conducted into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Ranaut has alleged that Rajput was the victim of nepotism in the industry and that there is a clique of sorts that refuses to give ‘outsiders’ their due.

 

In the recent past, the actress has also likened the Shiv Sena-ruled Maharashtra to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and was also given Y-plus security by the Centre ahead of a visit to Mumbai. Amidst all this, the municipal corporation in Mumbai partly demolished the actress’ property in Juhu. A case regarding this is going on at the Bombay High Court. The civic body’s claim that they found 14 alterations and additions to the property during the inspection was not substantiated by proper evidence, reported by Hindustan Times. 

 

Ranaut had criticised the Mumbai police’s handling of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case and had also posted a video on Instagram in which she stated she feared Mumbai Police more than the “movie mafia” after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
