Running into your favorite celeb can be an exciting experience. However, a Pedro Pascal fan was left far from amused when she bumped into the American actor at a Starbucks store. Reason? Pascal’s unlikely coffee order— six shots of espresso— left the wide-eyed fan wondering if the GoT actor would be gasping for breath after the ‘shots’ at the store!
Throwing in a bit of context; a fan recently took to TikTok and posted about her chance encounter with Pascal at the coffeehouse she’d dropped by. Soon after, the user posted another video with a picture of the coffee cup that he was holding. Believe it or not, but if the order is anything to go by, the Last of Us actor had indeed ordered 6 shots of espresso with ice in a venti cup! Needless to say, the video went viral within minutes of it landing on the internet.
While it’s no news that a shot of espresso has more caffeine content than regular coffee, it became a little unfathomable for fans to wonder how Pascal was gulping down six potent shots of these. Well, no brownie points for guessing Pascal fans have had a field day on Twitter, ever since the video went viral.
Here Are A Couple Of Epic Twitter Reactions To The Video Reveal:
As per the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 400 milligrams of caffeine is the recommended limit for daily consumption. One ounce of espresso usually contains 63 milligrams of caffeine, as reported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Turns out, Pascal’s order— which amounts to 380 milligrams— isn’t too bad.
However, health experts are divided on the trend. Dietician and nutritionist Nidhi Agrawal weighed in with a perspective that while regular coffee consumption has myriad benefits, ranging from weight loss to energy building, several other factors also play a determining role in how healthy it is for you. “But drinking coffee at night or post meals is not good for the body. Everyone wants to consume coffee in today’s time but when we add sugar to it or experiment with it, it again becomes high in calories. Which again is not good for your overall health,” says Agrawal.
Moreover, if one experiences concerning symptoms like irregular heartbeat or severe headache, it’s a clear sign to tone down on the coffee. “The recommended caffeine content for daily consumption is 200 to 400 milligrams. But, it largely depends on one’s age, health history, dietary habits, daily schedule, and the like.”
Dr. Rishabh Rokde, on the other hand, advises against such high levels of caffeine even if one believes they’re habituated to large amounts of daily coffee consumption. “By consuming just one shot of espresso, sufficient heat is generated inside the body. And, when there are straight 6 shots, then the energy and the heat would be immense. Tea is still okay because they are leaves, but coffee comes from a seed, making it a lot more powerful,” he explains.
On the work front, the actor plays the lead in shows like The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. Not too long ago, Pascal delivered one of his best performances so far as Oberyn Martell in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
