Not many actresses possess an impeccable comic timing like she does. Many a time, Bollywood actresses have been reduced to being mere objects of the hero’s affection (and most times, the villain’s too).
If you recall the ’90s, most Bollywood divas were akin to props (we know it is an offensive term but that was the mentality during those days); their role was to add some glitz and glamour into the grim setting and to break into a dance at the oddest of moments.
But Kajol always stood out from the rest. She may have indulged in the song-and-dance bit too, but that does not take away from the fact that she has been one of the most unconventional actresses in the industry. Her penchant to take up meatier roles as opposed to being a sidekick to the hero, and the fact that she is renowned to be a voracious reader who buried her nose in books in between shots, Kajol made her way up the ladder solely on the basis of the oodles of talent she possessed (she still does).
And for her avid fans, Kajol is definitely the epitome of cool. She has a natural and fabulous sense of humour that also translates into the kind of roles she chooses to portray.
This year, the 42 year old actress, who made her debut with the 1992 drama Bekhudi, completed 25 years in the industry. And on the special occasion, the firebrand actress shared an old picture with the caption: “Throwback to 25 years back. So much love for so long. Truly humbled!”

On that note, here’s taking a look at some films that prove how Kajol is one of the funniest women in the industry.
Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya
Her role as Muskaan, who has an over possessive brother, was widely appreciated by audiences. In the film, Salman plays her lover who, in order to win her heart, has to first win the hearts of her uncle and brother.
K3G
They don’t talk anymore, but no one can forget KJo’s collaboration with Kajol in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, where she played the Punjabi spewing Chandani Chowk resident who, along with SRK (her love interest and husband), immigrates to London, but who does not forget her roots.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
The first half of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was a laugh riot, only because of Kajol’s infectious energy before the story took a serious (romantic) turn. And there’s no one else who could play the carefree tomboy with as much panache as Kajol did.
Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha
When Rahul leaves Sanjana for another woman, she refuses to give up and turns Shekhar her fake boyfriend only to make Rahul jealous. Kajol plays the clumsy Sanjana in Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha and boy, wasn’t she hilarious? She won many hearts in this rib-tickling comedy which also starred Ajay Devgn.
Ishq
This comedy-drama’s star cast comprised Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Juhi Chawla and Kajol. And when you know there are two powerhouse performers such as Kajol and Chawla (who are also known for their impeccable comic timing), you know this would turn out to be a double dose of entertainment.
Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi
In yet another double role (Dushman was one too), Kajol shines bright in this flick of long lost twins and mind you, she is pure, wicked fun in this one.
