Bollywood’s leading ladies like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif are investing big bucks into the Indian startup ecosystem. Padukone has invested in Epigamia and FrontRow, Bhatt has invested in Nykaa and so has Kaif.

Padukone had invested in the yogurt company last year and according to Business Insider, she’s also invested in learning and community platform FrontRow along with marquee investors like Lightspeed and Elevation Capital (SAIF Partners). The collective investment was $3.2 million.

“Growing up, I wasn’t exactly academically inclined. My interests lay in diverse spheres and activities outside of the traditional classroom- dance, sports, music, modeling, and performance arts, to name a few. And if there’s one thing I wish I had access to while growing up, it would be a platform like ‘FrontRow’ – one that gives individuals access to abundant knowledge in non-academic fields as well as connects them to a community of peers and professionals in their field of interest,” she said, according to BI.

BI also reports that Bhatt’s recent investment in Nykaa, the beauty e-commerce platform was of an undisclosed amount and was made through a secondary transaction.

As for Kaif, she has launched her own beauty line in collaboration with Nykaa called ‘Kay Beauty’. “I was familiar with the company’s growing brand equity and market leadership and becoming an investor is the next logical step in sharing the Nykaa vision,” said Katrina Kaif in a statement.

“While I was associated with Okie Ventures, I felt their gaming platform had a very immersive experience. I’m very happy about the fact that the games are going to be centered around mythology, folklore, and Indian culture. This gives a very different and unique experience to the users,” Kajal Aggarwal told BI in an interview.

In 2019, Rai Bachchan invested in Ambee, an environmental intelligence startup, along with her mother, Vrinda. Arora is not new to the startup club and has been a part of it since 2012. She’s been involved with The Label Life which is a retail startup that offers high-end clothing, accessories, and home decor. She has also invested in the popular yoga fitness chain startup, Sarva.
