Every once in a while, a model makes a successful move from the ramp to the big screen – look at Sidharth Malhotra, for example. However, while Malhotra has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood, these five models weren’t as fortunate. Read on to know what they are doing now.
Mugdha Godse was first seen in the commercially successful and critically acclaimed film, Fashion. Following that, we saw her in Jail (which wasn’t as successful) and Heroine (a film with great potential that failed to hit the mark). The few others that she appeared in aren’t worth mentioning, really.
Celina Jaitly won the Miss India title in 2001 and then went on to star in a few music videos (Jazzy B’s ‘Oh Kehri’, for example) which were a huge hit with the masses. The 36-year-old then starred in a few flops before striking gold with No Entry. Other films starring Jaitly like Thank You were also a commercial success but the actress never really found favour with the critics.
Koena Mitra, an alumnus of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, had a successful modelling career and went on to win the title of Gladrags Mega Model India in 2001. The 34-year-old endorsed multiple brands and starred in commercial successes like Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and Apna Sapna Money Money.
The stunning Diana Hayden was crowned Femina Miss India World in 1997 and won the Miss World pageant the same year. During the Miss World contest, she won the “Continental Queen of Asia and Oceania”, “Miss Photogenic” and “Spectacular Swimwear”, making her the only Miss World to win three subtitles in the competition. Her acting career never really took off but has had successful endorsement deals.
Tanushree Dutta won the Femina Miss India Universe in 2004 and had a successful debut with Aashiq Banaya Aapne which was a big deal at the time. However, the other films she starred in failed to hit the mark.
