Hulu Drops The Trailer Of ‘Prey,’ A Prequel To ‘The Predator’

There’s no news about an India release as of yet

The Predator series has seen many highs and lows through the years, and it’s been more of the latter. Hoping to change that, Hulu has released the first trailer of its new Predator series, aptly titled ‘Prey.’

Set a whopping three centuries before the events of Arnie’s 1987 movie, Prey offers a rather intriguing angle into the world of our favourite alien hunters. This is what the official synopsis reads:

“Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”

The movie will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who’s previously worked on properties like Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys and 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane. The series will star Amber Midthunder as Naru, who’s seen legging it out in the woods, as a mysterious figure pursues her. No points for guessing what it might be.

The Predator franchise has seen a total of six movies spanning out in its universe, with two mash-up with the Alien series: 2004’s Alien Vs Predator and 2007’s Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem. The latest installment called The Predator came out in 2018 and was directed by Shane Black, who featured in the 1987 original. Sadly, despite the huge potential, the movie failed to leave a mark on either audiences or critics.

However, with Dan Trachtenberg’s track record and Hulu’s seemingly unlimited budget, it’ll be interesting to see how the prequel movie pans out. Speaking of which, it’ll officially premiere on August 5 on Hulu. It is yet to be confirmed if it will get an Indian release.

Fans have been flooding the internet with reactions to the trailer. Here are some of our favourite picks:
