Before 2020, the Billboard Rock and Alternative Songs, which ranks the best-performing and most-consumed tracks that fit under those genres, never had a Taylor Swift hit. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to her fans who know that pop is the genre which the Evermore singer has been successfully dominating over the years.
However, things changed last summer. Swift, with just two albums classified as “rock” or “alternative” (at least according to Billboard) to her credit, has already racked up more major hits on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart than many of the biggest and most successful acts who have been sending tunes toward the top of that tally for years.

In just a matter of months, Swift has accrued 17 top 10 hits on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, an incredible sum for someone who just reached the ranking for the first time less than a year ago.
At present, it looks like Swift would not release any new music that could be classified as either rock or alternative, though one can’t say for sure, as nobody was expecting either Folklore or Evermore. At the moment, Swift stands out as one of the most successful rock artistes of all time, a feat she managed in a matter of a few months.
At this year’s Grammys, Swift has a good chance of winning the Grammy for album of the year for the third time with Folklore. If she does indeed manage to pull off this feat, then she would become the fourth three-time Grammy winner for album of the year, following Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon (counting an album he recorded as half of Simon & Garfunkel).
With sales of over 200 million records worldwide, Swift is one of the world’s best selling musicians. She also has 32 American Music Awards (the most wins by an artist), and 23 Billboard Music Awards (the most wins by a woman) to her credit. Some of her well-known songs include We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, Shake It Off, Blank Space, and Bad Blood.
