The much-anticipated first look of House of the Dragon was finally shared by HBO Max yesterday. The limited series which is the first Game of Thrones prequel spin-off, will take the audience back 200 years ago. The story will chronicle the fall of the Iron Throne, when the Targaryens took over Westeros with the help of dragons. While the one-minute teaser does not give away much details about what’s to come, it does set the mood for the series.

“Gods. Kings. Fire. And Blood,” says the narrator in the teaser, while glimpses of the primary characters appear on the screen. The Hand of the King pin on Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), Kign Viserys I (Paddy Considine), and his kids Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) can be seen in the teaser. A brief glimpse of a Targaryen in combat, a tourney, and Otto’s daughter Alicent (Olivia Cooke) also appear in the teaser.
Ryan Condal serves as co-showrunner alongside Game of Thrones veteran, Miguel Sapochnik, who will direct the House of the Dragon pilot and a couple of more episodes. Greg Yaitanes, Clare Kilner, and Geeta V. Patel will also direct a few episodes each. Martin, Condal, and Sapochnik also serve as executive producers alongside writer Sara Lee Hess, Vince Gerardis, and Ron Schmidt. Yaitanes is a co-executive producer.
Apart from this, George RR Martin is now said to be developing a stage version of HBO’s smash hit series for Broadway, the West End and Australia. It is being reported that the author is collaborating with British playwright Duncan MacMillan and director Dominic Cooke for the Broadway play.
According to reports in The Hollywood Reporter, the Games Of Thrones play will bring back several beloved characters from the original show. It is being said that the play will be set during ‘a pivotal moment in Westeros history, The Great Tourney at Harrenhal, a contest that took place just 16 years before the events in’ Game of Thrones. Simon Painter and Tim Lawson will be backing the stage production.
