Abhishek Chaubey who has earlier directed films like Ishqiya, Udta Punjab and Sonchiriya is set to direct a biopic on Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies. According to Economic Times, the film is titled Dhyanchand and will be produced by RSVP in collaboration with Blue Monkey Films.
Dhyan Chand is a legend in the field of hockey with three Olympic gold medals – one in 1928 (Amsterdam), one in 1932 (Los Angeles) and one in 1936 (Berlin).

The film will be written by Supratik Sen and Chaubey and the cast of the film hasn’t been announced yet.
“Dhyan Chand is one of the greatest hockey players in the history of our national sport, and it’s a matter of pride to direct his biopic. We had massive amount of research material in hand, and honestly, every achievement of his life deserves a separate story in itself.
“I am grateful to have a brilliant creative force like Ronnie Screwvala backing the film, and we can’t wait to get started next year. Hoping to announce the lead actor soon,” Chaubey said in a statement.
