Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man is probably one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but in case you ever wondered how Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor would have played the role – well, we have news for you.

Ranbir Kapoor made his debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2007 film, Saawariya. While the film wasn’t as successful as other SLB releases, Kapoor soon carved out a niche for himself in the industry and soon became one of Bollywood’s most sought-after leading men.

However, the actor has now said that he has the tendency to transform even the most heroic of characters into the underdog. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen next in Brahmastra and Shamshera. “Even if I got offered to play Iron Man I would make him an underdog, I think,” the actor told veteran film critic Rajeev Masand. “That’s just something that comes naturally to me. I am a big fan of the ‘unexpected triumph’, I like the audience to relate to my characters and not.

“Shamshera and Brahmastra are these large-scale, action, big-ticket movies, so there is a preconceived notion. I want my characters to have a relatable quality and not an aspirational quality,” he added.

Kapoor has worked on these films for around three or four years now and has said that working on them has been “very rough” especially since his family has gone through a tough time due to his late father, Rishi Kapoor’s illness. “It was a hard three years, so I’m looking for only light stuff right now,” he said.

Kapoor’s last release was the superhit 2018 film, Sanju. For now, the actor will be seen opposite beau Alia Bhatt in Brahmastra and has confirmed that he will soon start working on Luv Ranjan’s next film and appear in Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next project.
