Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited action-thriller Tenet, finally made its touchdown in Indian theatres this month, and the numbers indicate the film did well. You know, considering there’s a pandemic going on all over the world.

 

According to Box Office India’s latest report, ‘Tenet’ which collected around Rs 1.2 crore on its opening day has gone on to reach a total of Rs 8.25 crore with Rs 5.50 crore from its first week and Rs 2.75 crore from the second weekend.

The report also revealed that most of the contribution has been from the South with Mumbai also contributing healthily. Mumbai and South are contributing over 80% of the all India collections of the film with more than 60% coming from the South.

Nolan’s film is is expected to surpass the Rs 10 crore mark in the country very soon.

 

The action-thriller stars actors John David Washington and Robert Pattinson in the lead roles. It also features Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Clemence Poesy in pivotal roles, along with veteran Bollywood actress Dimple Kapadia.

Nolan shared his experience shooting in a country like India in an exclusive transcript shared with PTI by Warner Bros. He said, “Every time I go to India, I’m struck by how unbelievably visual the place is. I had shot a couple of days in Jodhpur on The Dark Knight Rises and always wanted to go back and shoot a more substantial sequence, and I had the opportunity to do that on Tenet.”

“We shot in Mumbai, which is just one of the most extraordinary looking cities in the world in terms of its architecture, the amazing people and the abundance of life on the streets there. It’s a really remarkable place with this extraordinary history, so, to be able to take the audience there, it seemed a very exciting setting,” the film-maker added.
