Bollywood’s top actress Deepika Padukone has been on a roll – from Ram Leela to Padmaavat, she’s given stellar performances for years now. Padukone also got married recently to fellow actor, Ranveer Singh – an event that was covered by every media outlet. Now, the actress is back to work and has started prepping for her role in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
“Deepika first searched websites to learn how the [acid attack] survivors are affected. She is also looking up all available material (photographs/videos) on the internet about Laxmi to thoroughly research her life. In fact, Laxmi herself has been very supportive, even sharing material on her journey that is not available anywhere else or is not yet out in the public domain. Deepika was also provided DVDs and pen drives, containing material of about 10 survivors, by the makers of the project. The actor is making sure that every detail is in place,” a report in a leading daily stated, according to Filmfare.
The film will also star Vikrant Massey opposite Padukone.
