There is no fear, no mood and no hard-hitting dialogues. All you can see is clichéd scenes and a lot of bawling.

The trailer of Shraddha Kapoor’s Haseena Parkar is out, and we cannot stop talking about how bad it is. There is no fear, no mood and no hard-hitting dialogues. All you can see is clichéd scenes and a lot of bawling.

Certainly, if the real Dawood Ibrahim saw this trailer (which we think he already has), he’ll get so pissed that he’ll shoot at least two of his henchmen. After all, it’ll be a big blow to his gargantuan ego if somebody makes a shoddy film out of his sister’s story. Something which Apoorva Lakhia has done.

It’s not like Apoorva is bad at making gangster films. He’s made Shootout at Lokhandwala, which was a fascinating and convincing take on the gangster-police duel. Other than that, his filmography has nothing to boast of. Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, his first film, saw both Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta act in a movie with a horrendous script. Zanjeer, his last film, was a shameful tribute to the great Amitabh Bachchan starrer. Then there’s a film called Mission Istanbul, starring two horrendous actors like Vivek Oberoi and Zayed Khan. You just have to listen to the title song to believe how bad it is.

For Shraddha Kapoor, this is a dud move but you’ve got to give credit to her for choosing a woman-centric film. It is not a piece of cake for everyone. However, when it comes to execution – she falls flat. The bawling and the shouting seem fake. The only bit that looks impressive, is when she gives a dark look in a courtroom with paan in her mouth.

This is not the only gangster flick that is coming soon. Daddy, based on Arun Gawli’s life, will soon be in theatres – and we’re definitely watching that one on the big screen.
