The decision was taken by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) after they received harsh criticism for its lack of diversity and allegations of corruption. This year, the award function was not at all glitzy, ensuing, with no stars walking the red carpet. However, the excitement to know who won what award was still intact.
