Rajinikanth’s 2.0 has been released everywhere and has been garnering immense positive reactions from the audience. With a budget of Rs. 543 crores, the film is the most expensive Indian film ever made and a good amount of that is due to the cost spent on the VFX department.

The magnitude of the effects in the film is on a huge level and the film primarily relies on the use of special effects. A report by Times Now, truly showcased just what went behind making the movie what it is. Take a look at all the hi-tech equipment and craftsmanship that were used to produce the film.

The entire film has been shot in 3D. Usually films shoot using normal 2D cameras and then convert it into 3D in post-production, but director Shankar wanted the whole film to be shot using a 3D camera. 

While shooting 2.0, Lidar scanning, which is used to give depth to the visual effects through lighting, was used.

The looks of the actors had to be absolutely perfect, so they decided to call in international make-up artist Sean Foot to take over. 

To shoot the climax of the film, they made use of spider cams, a system that is used to move the camera both vertically and horizontally over a fixed area especially a playing ground or field. This kind of camera system is commonly used during IPL matches. 

The concept of previsualization played a huge part in the film. Previsualization is used to visualize complicated scenes even before filming begins. It hugely helps filmmakers make important directorial decisions and possible editorial changes.

Indian music maestro A R Rahman has contributed to the film by reportedly produced 4D sound effects.
